HOW LONG HAVE THEY BEEN IN BUSINESS?

With Public Adjusters, experience is nearly everything! There are hundreds of fly by night start-ups who are great at posting on social media, however when the negotiations begin, these fly by nights fold at the first sign of push back. At a minimum, ask the public adjuster if they have past work experience, hopefully with a public adjuster firm or working for an insurance company.

Since 1949, Biller Associates has handled thousands of insurance claims, we embrace the latest technologies and to top it all off, David Biller is also an attorney at law.

2. ASK IF THEY HAVE A TEAM, OR, IS IT A ONE PERSON OPERATION?

A single public adjuster, even a very seasoned one, can only be so knowledgeable and can only handle so much. A team of experienced public adjusters can pool their knowledge, delegate work and most importantly, maximize your claim. Another benefit is finding an adjuster who also has experience as an attorney.

3. ARE THEY LICENSED IN CONNECTICUT?

If you select an unlicensed public adjuster, they are breaking the law and worse yet, putting you at risk.

4. DO THEY HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR TYPE OF CLAIM?

For any experienced or qualified public adjuster, claims that occur in Connecticut range from basic to extremely complex. Regardless, whether it be straight forward or catastrophic, you want the best of the best working on your claim. Biller Associates has been helping clients since 1949 and we think we have seen it all, but something unique always pops up and that is why we are qualified.

5. HOW DO PUBLIC ADJUSTERS GET PAID?

A public insurance adjuster only gets paid when you get paid and receives a percentage of your claim. This is a very important fact and always remember, Biller Associates works for You, NOT the insurance company. If for any reason, a public adjuster requests an up-front fee, do not do business with them.

6. DO THEY HAVE EXPERIENCE DEALING WITH MORTGAGE LENDERS?

Every situation is different and getting back to the “team” question above, most homeowners still owe money on their mortgage. Dealing with insurance companies requires patience, insurance companies love this type of delay and an experienced public adjuster will serve as an intermediary to help you deal with your strict mortgage lender’s demands.

7. WHO PREPARES MY CLAIM?

The polar opposite of working with too small a team is working with a massive firm where you quickly become an “account number” and you will immediately feel like you are calling your insurance company. In addition, often times, these large firms farm out to third parties and when an issue arises, everyone passes the blame. Bottom line, make sure you are working with a Public Adjuster that gets their hands dirty as well as gets involved in the process.

8. ASK FOR REFERENCES AND CHECK OUT REVIEWS?

If there is an issue in providing references, need we say more? We are fortunate in that our clients often write unsolicited reviews on our Google My Business Profile as well as our Social Media pages. In addition, we include a testimonials page on our website. However, if you would like to speak with Biller Associates client, please ask and we will provide you with contact information.
